“When voting rates are some of the lowest among advanced democracies, we should make it easier, not harder, to vote. When trust in our institutions is low, we should reduce the corrosive influence of money in our politics, and insist on the principles of transparency and ethics in public service. When Congress is dysfunctional, we should draw our districts to encourage politicians to cater to common sense and not rigid extremes.”

— President Obama, Farewell Address

In his Farewell Address, President Obama called upon all Americans to pursue an agenda that would strengthen our democracy and enrich our civic life. He highlighted three areas of importance: voting rights, transparency and ethics in government, and common sense leadership. Forward Majority Fund is answering that call.

Our Mission

Democracy requires a level playing field to thrive. Forward Majority Fund works to ensure that the roots of American democracy are healthy and strong—voting rights and access, an engaged and informed electorate, an open and accountable government and trusted messengers engaging Americans in civil discourse.

From equal access to the ballot box, to fair district lines, to transparency and accountability in government, we believe in a fair and functional democracy.

We pursue our mission through multiple avenues, including grassroots engagement, legal advocacy, government monitoring and accountability, a focus on state legislatures, civic education and collaboration with other non-profit partners.
